Powers of Crowdsourcing

My girlfriend and I are proof that opposites attract. She is a English as a second language kindergarten teacher and I am a Internet technology consultant.

I never really knew how little of a budget teachers get to fund projects at their school. She recently used a web site called Donors Choose to fund a project at her school and received funding from a a gentlemen in Gothenburg, Sweden.

So crazy to think that someone in Gothenburg was like “Wow, this teacher needs some money to setup a garden at a New Orleans school, here ya go!”.

The Donors Choose web site is apparently pretty thorough with it’s vetting, as far as contact the principle of the school, etc to verify that it is a legit request.
