Stop whatever you are doing and setup Google 2 step authentication

I recently read a pretty nightmarish story about identity theft beginning with his e-mail being hacked. Now everyone in the world knows hotmail/yahoo e-mail isn’t as secure as gmail(simply my opinion and experience with other customers) but Google has added a extra security level which I really like.

Basically it works like this. You have your normal google password for your e-mail just as normal. However if you try to login to your account from a machine you haven’t marked as trusted, it’s going to send you a text message with a code that you’ll need to enter in to access your account.

Now lets say you want to check your e-mail on your tablet or phone. You then login to your account and generate a unique password per device so you can easily disable a device if you lose one. It’s really a extra and free level of security that should be taken advantage of.
